Body Imprint #7
Dimensions: 8 x 10 inches Year Created: 2019 This is an original watercolor painting on cold press heavyweight watercolor paper. Hand signed by me at the bottom. From an ongoing watercolor series of the human form. I call them my "body imprint" series because they mimic that of the body being pressed against glass. I've always been fascinated with the relationship between the mind and body. We are interchangeably linked to our physical selves and there is a direct connection between our mental and physical states in everything that we do. I address the human form by combining both realism and elements of abstraction and spontaneity in order to show the ambiguous and mysterious nature of the human mind. I like the juxtaposition of the body next to a clean white background. For me, although the white background is technically "blank space," it also has a weight to it. Like the figure is floating in this opaque space that has infinite depth.
