Inspired by a 1951 postcard of the Chisos Mountains in West Texas, this painting reflects a personal interpretation of the range above the basin in Big Bend National Park — one of my favorite views in the park. Softened color and atmospheric distance replace strict detail, allowing the peaks to feel expansive and lived-in rather than documented. The scene holds the stillness of standing above the desert, where land rises slowly into memory.
