This painting depicts Yosemite National Park and draws from a film photograph my father took in 1998. Reworking these images has become an act of memory mapping for me—returning to family vacations and painting from photographs taken along the way. Some moments surface clearly, while others remain partially forgotten, allowing memory and imagination to quietly intertwine.
Rooted in personal experience and shared memory, my work is intended to evoke quiet nostalgia and reflection. Through layered washes of transparent watercolor, passages of opaque acrylic and gouache, and subtle marks scratched into clayboard, the paintings invite viewers into a dreamlike space where memory and reality gently overlap.
