This work draws from a photograph my father took on film in 2001 during a family trip to Yosemite National Park. The rushing river in the image represents my earliest memory of water’s power. That same trip included a whitewater rafting experience—frightening at the time, but unforgettable in its thrill.
Rooted in personal experience and shared memory, my work is intended to evoke quiet nostalgia and reflection. Through layered washes of transparent watercolor, passages of opaque acrylic and gouache, and subtle marks scratched into clayboard, the paintings invite viewers into a dreamlike space where memory and reality gently overlap.
